Week 7/8 CST 338

I can't believe I've made it. When I saw Hw01 the first time I was so convinced there was no way I was going to survive this class. And yet, after every assignment thus far I have felt so accomplished and honestly proud of myself. It is easy to doubt yourself when there is a big challenge in front of you, but finishing it is such a relief and like Dr. C says, definitely a victory. Looking back at where I started from where I am now I can say that I've definitely stressed more, lol...but i've also learned a lot! I've gotten more comfortable using IntelliJ, and surprisingly android studio. The first time I saw android studio I was like, "No way, absolutely not", but now that I've worked on it more it doesn't feel too alien to me. I've gotten more comfortable with working with multiple files, with understanding polymorphism, and with remembering to write my javadoc comments. Working with a team for project 2 has been good for me as I haven't done a big project like this before, so having those comments has become very helpful when it comes to needing help from a teammate with your code or vice versa. If I were to do Hw01 differently I would have made sure to delete the TODOs after finishing them, fixed my syntax to follow google java style guide, and last but not least...not have been so hard on myself about it.

Week 2 Learning Journal

 Part 1: After reading the Effective Study Skills paper, I think the top 3 skills I am good at are developing a weekly schedule, making sure to read instructions to properly complete assignments, and ensuring I always have a quiet study space with no distractions. Some of these skills come with trial and error but they have proven to be most beneficial in studying successfully. I think 3 skills I need to work on are organizing my notes when researching, the SQ3R method, and making every hour count. These study skills and methods are important to practice because they will be a big step up in being efficient with studying.  Part 2: Activity log Part 3: Watching the three video presentations provided offered a lot of helpful tools that will boost my knowledge on project management. Week 7 Learning Journal

Part 1: For our team’s final research video project, we’ve been using Discord to communicate, and it’s worked really well. We chat frequently, ask each other questions, and keep everyone updated on progress. It’s been a smooth way to stay connected and make sure no one feels out of the loop. We’re using Google Slides to build our presentation and OBS Studio to record and edit the final video. So far, the process has been going pretty smoothly, but if I had to improve anything for next time, I’d suggest setting deadlines a little earlier to give ourselves more buffer room. Overall, the collaboration has been solid and productive. Part 2: This week’s materials made me think about how little things can have huge effects. I chose a TED talk on cybersecurity, I realized how something as simple as clicking a link can lead to serious consequences. It was a good reminder to stay alert online.
