Week 7 Learning Journal

Part 1: For our team’s final research video project, we’ve been using Discord to communicate, and it’s worked really well. We chat frequently, ask each other questions, and keep everyone updated on progress. It’s been a smooth way to stay connected and make sure no one feels out of the loop. We’re using Google Slides to build our presentation and OBS Studio to record and edit the final video. So far, the process has been going pretty smoothly, but if I had to improve anything for next time, I’d suggest setting deadlines a little earlier to give ourselves more buffer room. Overall, the collaboration has been solid and productive.

Part 2: This week’s materials made me think about how little things can have huge effects. I chose a TED talk on cybersecurity, I realized how something as simple as clicking a link can lead to serious consequences. It was a good reminder to stay alert online. A TED talk I was interested in was by Amy Cuddy. It was on body language and it was really interesting too. It showed how our posture and presence can actually influence how we feel and how others see us. It made me reflect on how I carry myself in everyday situations. The video “Life After Death by PowerPoint” by Don McMillan humorously highlights common slide mistakes: too much text, bad charts, and boring designs. It was a fun yet practical reminder to keep slides simple, visual, and engaging.
