Week 6 Learning Journal
Part 1: When our team got together to brainstorm capstone project ideas, we came up with several possibilities. A few that stood out were a mobile app focused on mental health, a machine learning tool for predicting energy use, and a cybersecurity solution tailored for small businesses. As we talked through each one, we considered how realistic they were and what kind of impact they could have. Personally, I was really drawn to the cybersecurity idea. It felt practical and relevant, especially with how many small businesses struggle to protect their data. The group seemed excited about it too, so we all agreed to do more research later on for this idea. I think we’re on a good track and I’m looking forward to seeing where this leads.
Part 2: This week I went through the CSUMB Career Guide and the cover letter/resume lecture, and it actually helped a lot. I realized I need to start personalizing my resume more depending on the job i'll be applying for. I also didn’t really think about how important using strong action verbs was until now. I’m planning to update my resume soon and start making my LinkedIn look a little more professional too. We also did the OLI collaboration module, which talked about stuff like being accountable and communicating better with teammates. It was a good reminder, especially since my team has been working on our final presentation project. We’ve started splitting up research and setting deadlines. I think we’re finally getting into a rhythm, and everyone’s been respectful and open to each other’s input so far.
